What if the Barisan Nasional had won the election with a landslide victory?

The lost of five states and the Federal Territory during the last general election to the opposition parties had indeed dealt a devastating blow to the BN.
As if the blow is not strong enough, the formation of the Pakatan Rakyat among the opposition parties has certainly crushed the pride and arrogance of the BN in general and the Umnoputras in particular.
Like the Transformer in the movie, we see how the omnipotent BN politicians after the massive repudiation by the people being transformed to humble beings.
The laconic MCA leader is acting tough and speaking out for the Chinese community now.
The Education Minister has apologized over the keris issue which must has haunted him and put to rest now.
The PM has announced plans to improve the judiciary system and to set-up an independent ACA to further combat corruption effectively.
The PM has also humbly define the meaning of ketuanan Melayu, which according to him is not about the Malays being in a position to dominate, rule over and force their power over other races.
I believe there will be more smorgasbord of promises by the government and whatever it is, this post election has certainly brings an aura of hope for the people.
A hope for change, that is.
One pertinent question which we should ask ourselves – what if the BN had won with a landslide victory? What will be the political milieu now?
Will the keris be waved more aggressively?
Will the Umnoputras be more cocky and arrogant?
Will there be more rampant corruptions?
Will the other races be further marginalized and discriminated?
Will the judiciary always be correct, correct, correct?
If the BN government is willing to change or seems to be changing or has changed for the betterment of the people and the country, do you think we should consider supporting them again?

Just curious what the four "gigantic" banners hanging outside the Courts Complex in Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur printed with the words "BUAT KERJA" meant? Is it meant to be a self-confession by those working in the building, including high-ranking judges, that the judiciary HAS NOT been working all these while and only now will they start to do work???

You ask - If the BN government is willing to change or seems to be changing or has changed for the betterment of the people and the country, do you think we should consider supporting them again?

My view: For UMNO so entrenched in their racist attitudes to the core, it takes another 5-6 election of defeat before they can change, that's if we are are lucky.

UMNO was NOT spoilt and its arrogance was not instigated by the Malays, it was spoilt and encouraged by the MCA-Chinese and MIC-Indians for more than 3 decades.

To knock off UMNO's arrogance, is to kill of MCA and MIC politically. So far, the job is half done in that the destruction fell on Gerakan, whose relevance had long past the their use-by date. They are neither here nor there. Their mandate is unachievable and too academci for the realpolitiks of UMNO. Gerakan are like those wishy-washy NGOs who are good at rhetoric but useless in delivery. So the total destruction of Gerakan after 30 years is no surprise. They can't even improve themselves after 30 year, which means they are beyond any form of repair. Gerakan should bundle up to safe their integrity.

After this election, MCA is a working progress as far as its sustainability. MIC;s hope of survival to send Samy Vellu to a breeding pasture as part of his retirement.

Hi, Frank.

I basically do agree with you.
Now, it is up to Pakatan Rakyat to prove to the people that it can effectively and efficiently govern the country without fear or favor.
